Have you been broken before?
"The bows of the warriors are broken, but those who stumbled are armed with strength. - 1 Samuel 2:4"
There is an oxymoron throughout the Bible. It says that brokenness is strength. How can this be? How can brokenness be strength? When a person is broken, he or she is often disillusioned and hurt beyond expression. How is then possible?
In order to use men and women to their fullest extent, the Lord has to break His people so that they might have a new kind of strength that is not human in origin. It is strength in spirit that is born only through brokenness.
In order to use men and women to their fullest extent, the Lord has to break His people so that they might have a new kind of strength that is not human in origin. It is strength in spirit that is born only through brokenness.
Paul was broken on the Damascus road. Peter was broken after Jesus was taken prisoner. Jacob was broken at Peniel. David was broken after his sin with Bathsheba. The list could go on of those the Lord had to break in different ways before they could be used in the Kingdom.
Indeed when we are broken, we see the frailty of human strength and come to grips with the reality that we can do nothing in our own strength. Then, new strength emerges that God uses mightily. God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble.Do not fear brokenness, for it may be the missing ingredient to a life that emerges with a new kind of strength and experience not known before. Ask for a broken and contrite heart that God can bless.

Hey Big Bro..
Good stuff and so true... So many times we are so afraid of being broken and giving up control.. I guess it's cos we're afraid of losing ourselves. We forget that when we are broken by God, He then shines through us and that at the end of the day, being broken may not be so bad after all...
Yes you are absolutely right. However, as mere humans, we often struggle in brokenness. I think God understands us in all our struggles and brokenness and He is ever ready to journey with us in our difficult times. We just need to trust and obey.
You are quite right pastor but at the same time we have to realise that "being broken" is just one of the numerous heartaches and disappointments this fallen world has to offer while we are in this life which is fleeting away soon....we look forward to that perfect life in the "New Earth" when we'll greet that first morning that will lead us to rule and reign with our immortal and eternal God throughout eternity.
It's sad many of us are still wailing and feeling sorry over our present conditions rather than picking up courage and looking up as our day of redemption draws closer.
George Ottis Sr, writes beautifully in his book, 'Millennium ' - In this dying age, we must bring the forthcoming Super world and its nearness into focus. I can see the Millennium through the colossal door which is slowly, irreversibly, swinging shut. Jesus Himself is the door and He is calling to the people on the dying planet: "I offer life abundant and eternal! Hurry! Don't waste precious time looking for another way into the Kingdom. I am the only way. Come, the Millennium bells are ringing!"
We believers must sound the very Good News that the way is still open. Compel the world to safety before the door closes. It's an hour to let the Holy Spirit ignite one last spiritual revolution!
Living on this planet today is like being on the Titanic after it hit the iceberg, and it's time to tell a sinking world where to find Jesus, the Lifeboat. Let's go public with the news of Jesus Kingdom!
You can be sure that people will mock you for speaking the truth just as how I send out frequent warnings about the coming storms to numerous people I personally know, from time to time.
But they won't mock for too long, soon the swingers and the 'do your own thingers' will discover one heartbeat too late, that Jesus isn't the emaciated, effeminate, pitiful, dead figure on the crucifix. Their laughter will freeze as they face a blazing eyed, omnipotent, brilliant, authoritative living Jesus.
"And I will not let them pollute my holy name any more." Ezekiel 39:7
It's time to go radical for righteousness- to declare war against sin and satan, to rock the boat for Jesus! Never again are we to be timid about our allegiance to the One who hung the stars in space. We're His authorised representatives, His agents on this planet. Let our blood run hot against sin. The prophet Isaiah said,
"I will not rest, until righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp burneth". Isaiah 62:1
Time to sound the final alert! Planet earth is about to be reborn!
"The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord...and He shall reign forever and ever". Revelation 11:5
Hosannas to the Father, to the Son and to the Holy Ghost!
Look up! Those early streaks in the eastern sky herald the Millennium's dawn- a romantic, 1,000 year valentine from a loving God whose praises we will all burst out singing forever:
Oh for a thousand tonges to sing
My great Redeemer's praise,
The glories of my God and King,
The triumphs of His grace!
- Charles Wesley
Oh what a great joy to know
our freedom is finally coming,
through all these troubled years, chasing after the wind,
His bright promises that are unfolding around the world today assuring us that very soon we'll behold in the clouds of Heaven
our beloved King of Kings!
Until He returns,
Dason
